Not even into December yet and my 2014 race plans are in place.
First up is the Hardmoors 30 on New Years Day, I am really looking forward to this Race as it will be my first Ultra outwith Scotland in 4-5yrs Running, Also I want to get a Feel for the Hardmoors series as the 110 is a race I have been looking at for a while so maybe for 2015. Just as long as I don't get lost on the 30 :-)
Then the D33side 33 a race I have run from the first in 2010, I just love this race. The route isn't everyone's cup of tea as it's flat and out and back, for me it's the fastest course I will ever Run. Epic Shit Racing sure do put on a great early season Event and it draws in the crowd with numbers upto 400 this year.
Next up my nightmare Race the Hoka highland fling, I have DNF'd 3 times and it's all been at the fling only Finishing 1 out of 4. I am determined that I am going to finish this year no matter what, As previous years I have just Stopped no real excuses. The fling will see a field of 800 take on the 53m of the West Highland Way and always draws some Top Talent :-)
May brings in the Cateran 55 trail Race and this is a fantastic event, one of the Best routes out there, Also it is the best Finish EVER...almost a mile of grassy descent straight to the Hotel Doors. The Spittal of Glenshee Hotel gets taken over for the weekend with Ultra Runners and Crews and give the Race an amazing atmosphere not a large Field but that's the way we like it. Oh and watch out this year for the Double yip 110mile 2 Laps very interesting.
Ah the Great Glen Ultra the official first year running, I ran this route this year as a recce and Team BaM have picked a awesome route for this race 73 miles of stunning scenery, although stunning this is a tough route with the first 42miles easy running and then the last 30 miles have cheeky wee climbs that will test the best...Roll on July.
The last is a tough one, I have been waiting to go the UTMB for a few years and I am going to put an entry in for the CCC and pray I am excepted if not then I still win as Team BaM's Glenmore 24hr Event is in September which is an event that brings a whole festival vibe to it and is set in some stunning Trails, if I can't run for getting in the CCC, maybe they will take me on as a marshal ;-)
So that's seems to be 2014 taken care of, and I can't Forget the West Highland Way Race, I haven't been drawn back to running this one yet since 2011, although I have crewed and supported and followed the Race I will be involved in some way either support running or crewing or just cheering from the sides.
Roll on the 1st January
Safe Runnings.
